YOGA OF THE HEART™
Yoga of the Heart™ was designed by Nischala Devi to assist
the healing process of people with heart disease and cancer. She
developed a series of gentle yoga postures for Dr. Dean Ornish’s
Program for the Reversal of Heart Disease. This study demonstrated
that the progression of heart disease can be slowed down and in
many cases reversed by a program of comprehensive lifestyle changes,
which include yoga-based stress management, aerobic exercise, low-fat
vegetarian diet and support groups.
Iyana Christine MA RYT completed the Yoga of the
Heart™ training in 2002. She teaches private and semi-private
sessions. Group classes can be arranged for three to six students.
The series of gentle yoga postures are easily modified for any physical
limitation. Deep relaxation and breathing techniques enhance healing
and well-being. Visualizations and positive imagery help reverse
the effect of stress on the body and bring the body and mind into
balance.
The Yoga of the Heart™ series consists of eight
1-1/2 hour sessions. A series can be arranged for a class of three
to six students, or semi-private or private coaching sessions. Props
are provided.
Please call the office for more information.

MORE ABOUT
YOGA PRACTICE
If you have any questions regarding your health and ability to practice
yoga, consult you health care provider first.
Wear clothing that gives you comfort and freedom of movement. Ideally
practice yoga on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after a meal.
Bring a yoga mat, if you have one, and a bottle of water. Pillows
and blankets are provided.
Remember that all progress in yoga comes from a relaxation of effort.
Never strain or struggle to get into a pose. Allow for a deeper
opening to occur through relaxation, body awareness and breathing.
Be aware and focused as you move smoothly into and out of the postures.
Remember to breathe and rest between the postures.
Focus your attention on the present. Accept yourself where you are
right now. Yoga is about union with your Highest Self. Contrary
to what you have seen in magazines, yoga is not about how a pose
looks from the outside or about competition. Progress occurs through
mindfulness of your inner and outer experience. Consistency and
receptivity will enhance your experience of yoga.
Iyana Christine gives each student individual attention, assisting
with the postures, setting up restorative poses and leading creative
and inspiring visualizations. Iyana Christine leads meditation at
the end of each yoga session.
Nameste! The highest spirit with
in me
honors the highest spirit within you.
